James was as cool, calm and collected as humanly possible while declaring such things like “I ain’t run off with your work bitch I took it.”īoldy James raps like Antwuan Dixon rides a skateboard, like James Harden lulls a defender to sleep, or like Patrick Mahomes throws a receiver open on a crossing route he isn’t even looking at, which is to say he makes it seem almost impossibly easy.ĭespite his near-mastery of putting words together, James output this decade has been inconsistent at points, at others flat.Īt his best, James is one of the coolest rappers on the planet at his worst, a talented rapper who could use another voice in the room.
